My village name is madela .there climate is hot and calet ,it Stuation central province . agriculture area here growing, mainly paddy and tomatoes . there population is 55 families and environment  is verry beauty.

Dambulla Cave Temple (also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla) is a world heritage site (1991) in Sri Lanka, situated in the central part of the country. This site is situated 148 km east of Colombo and 72 km north of Kandy. It is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers 160 m over the surrounding plains.There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding. Major attractions are spread over 5 caves, which contain statues and paintings. This paintings and statues are related to Lord Buddha and his life. There are total of 153 Buddha statues, 3 statues of Sri Lankan kings and 4 statues of gods and goddesses. The later 4 include two statues of Hindu gods, god Vishnu and god Ganesh. The murals, covers an area of 2,100 square meters. Depictions in the walls of the caves include Buddha’s temptation by Mara (demon) and Buddha’s first sermon.

Galle

Galle (ගාල්ල in Sinhala; காலி in Tamil) (pronounced as one syllable, rhyming with “Gaul” in English, in Sinhalese, IPA [gaːlːə]) is a town situated on the southwestern tip of Sri Lanka, 119 km from Colombo. Galle was known as Gimhathiththa (although Ibn Batuta in the 14th century refers to it as Qali) before the arrival of the Portuguese in the 16th century, when it was the main port on the island. Galle reached the height of its development in the 18th century, before the arrival of the British, who developed the harbor at Colombo.

On 26 December 2004 the city was devastated by the massive Boxing Day Tsunami caused by the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake that occurred a thousand miles away, off the coast of Indonesia. Thousands were killed in the city alone

Sinharaja Forest Reserve

Sinharaja Forest Reserve is a national park in Sri Lanka. It is of international significance and has been designated a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The hilly virgin rainforest, part of the Sri Lanka lowland rain forests ecoregion, was saved from the worst of commercial logging by its inaccessibility, and was designated a World Biosphere Reserve in 1978 and a World Heritage Site in 1889. The reserve’s name translates as Kingdom of the Lion.

The reserve is only 21 km from east to west, and a maximum of 7 km from north to south, but it is a treasure trove of endemic species, including trees, insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.

Because of the dense vegetation, wildlife is not as easily seen as at dry-zone national parks such as Yala. There are no elephants, and the 15 or so leopards are rarely seen. The commonest larger mammal is the endemic Purple-faced Langur.

Nuwara Eliya (Sinhala නුවරඑළිය Tamil நுவரேலியா)(pronounced IPA: [nuːrəliːjə]), meaning “the city in the open plain (table land)in the hills”, is a town in Sri Lanka. It is at an altitude of 1,990 m (6,128 ft) in the central highlands, and is overlooked by Pidurutalagala, the highest mountain in Sri Lanka.

The town was founded by Samuel Baker as a hill retreat for the British during the colonial era, where typical English pastimes including fox hunting, polo and cricket were played.

Although the town was found in the 19th century by Englishmen, the site was frequently visited by native Sinhalese travellers. It has also been an area of pre-historic human beings as recent archaeological findings confirm.

Many of the buildings retain features from the colonial period, and even new hotels are often built and furnished in the colonial style. The Hill Club is the best preserved of the hotels, and charges admission for non-residents who wish to wallow in its nostalgia. Many private homes still maintain their old English-style lawns and gardens.

Due to the high altitude, Nuwara Eliya has a much cooler climate than the lowlands of Sri Lanka, with a mean annual temperature of 16 °C. In the winter months it is quite cold at night, and there can even be frost. although it rapidly warms up as the tropical sun climbs higher during the day.

The town really comes alive in April for the Sinhalese and Tamil New Year, and it is difficult to find accommodation as Sri Lankans holiday in the region during this period. The festive season starts on April 1st annually in a ceramonial manner. The ceremony consist with mainly a band show where all the school bands will participate. This is one of the famous and beautiful ceremonies in Nuwara eliya.

Star attractions at this time are the numerous motor racing and horse racing events. Motor racing comes alive with the Mahagastotte and Radella Hill Climbs. The former being run since 1934. The Nuwara Eliya Road Race and the 4X4 Lake Cross on edge of Lake Gregory attract a fair share of enthusiasts. Parties are held nightly in the hotels, and the season culminates in the nine furlong (1811 m) Governor’s Cup, and the flower show at the end of the month

Wasgamuawa is situated in the Matale district of central province in Sri Lanka. The place is famous for the wildlife sanctuary. Elephants, Indian Peafowl and many other types of birds can be often seen. The leopard and fox are rarely seen. There are few good hotels nearby the park and safari tours could be arranged from the hotels or directly from the park. The park is managed by the wildlife department of Sri Lanka.

Kelaniya

Kelaniya is a small town very close to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. It is in Gampaha District, close to the road between Colombo and Kandy and Biyagama road. It is sited on the Kelani River, which takes its name from the town.

Kelaniya’s history is first recorded at the time of Gautama Buddha (5th century BCE) and it is known for the Buddhist temple built on the banks of the Kelani River. Sri Lankan Buddhists believe that the Buddha visited Kelaniya in order to quell a quarrel between two Nāga leaders of two warring factions: Chulodara (literally “the small-bellied one”) and Mahodara (literally “the big-bellied one”). They were quarrelling over a jewel-encrusted throne. After the Buddha showed them the futility of their quarrel they converted to Buddhism and together offered the throne to the Buddha. It is believed that the Dagoba (pagoda or Buddhist temple) seen today was built with the throne as a relic inside.

The town is also of historical importance as the capital of a provincial king Kelani Tissa (1st century BCE) whose daughter, Vihara Maha Devi was the mother of king Dutu Gemunu, regarded as the most illustrious of the 186 or so kings of Sri Lanka between the 5th century BCE and 1815.

Around the 15th century, Kelaniya was described in the Sandesa Kavyas as a beautiful city. Of late Kelaniya Temple has become famous because of the beautiful paintings and sculpture by Solias Mendis depicting various events in the history of Sri Lanka. Thousands of Buddhists come to see the Buddhist pageant of Kelaniya popularly referred to as Duruthu Maha Perahera of Kelaniya in the month of November/December every year.

The University of Kelaniya is situated at Kelanyia near the Colombo-Kandy Road.

Sigiriya is an archeological site in Central Sri Lanka. It contains the ruins of an ancient palace complex, built during the reign of King Kasyapa (477 – 495 AD). It is one of the seven World Heritage Sites (Ref:202) in Sri Lanka and is one of its most popular tourist destinations.^[1]
